I came into this world as the youngest of 6 children. I was born with underdeveloped hip sockets that afforded me a life experience that included:
― Plaster body casts as a baby, and at ages 7 and 13
― Three surgeries
― Physical therapy
― Ugly shoes to balance an eventual 1½" leg length discrepancy
― Unwanted Attention
― Hundreds of x-rays
― Hating my body
― Loving my body
― Finding my body an interesting lab experiment
Today - living through my body as a supportive vessel of communication and self expression
Full disclosure: My body is still a cool life lab experiment!
I have two daughters that I raised with their dad until they were 12 and 15. Then, I was a single working mom for 12 years.
In 2011, at the "First light of the First day of the new year," I married a strong, curious, adventurous, supportive man, David Sloves, and added two more step-daughters. Today, I get to add Grandmother of three "Amma" to my story.
My learning never stops
